Are We Willing To Do What It Will Take?

At the end of last month I had a post entitled "We May Have To Make Some Radical Changes". The post dealt with the challenges we face in doing what we have to do to reach certain groups with the message of Christ. Well here is one group that is doing things radically different and it is working. You may not agree with all they are doing, but for just a moment look at what people are willing to do and be challenged to see what might just be possible if enough people were willing to do what it will take.

When you are taken to the site just click on the page anywhere and you will be given a menu. Be sure to look at the pictures as well as read the articles section.

Here is the link: "Church Under The Bridge"

1 - The people meeting under the bridge would probably never think of meeting, or ever feel comfortable, in a "church building" setting.

This approach goes directly to those needing Jesus; much different then the traditional approach of waiting for them to discover "us." (Comment this)

2 - So true Larry. It is the difference between attractional and incarnational. These guys are putting the "Go" back into the Gospel. (Comment this)

3 - It will take courage to redefine what we mean by "church." Not only will those under the bridge not feel "at home" in a church building but neither will a large number we meet at Starbucks or Alterra.

4 - You are right Bobby, and regardless of how much we invite and try to draw them in, I just don't see them coming to us. The whole "us" and "them" attitude requires them to become like us for acceptance. Jesus went to them on their turf. (Comment this)

5 - Thanks for your challenging posts. It is past time to rethink the issues your bring up and many are doing so.

I remain with a church mostly in-the-box but who are not afraid to dream outside of it. I am glad to find resources like your blog to help possibly define these dreams. (Comment this)

6 - Danny, Thanks Danny. I can't help but feel that there is a stiring among our tribe. I would just like to fan those smoltering sparks into a flame. Keep dreaming outside that box - I feel strongly that is where the father is working.

By the way say hello to my niece Stacy and her hubby Eric. (Comment this)
