Barb, Halos and Tea and Jam

Since my battle with a major sinus infection I have not had a lot to write about. Makes me wonder if not being able to breathe right affects the ability to think. So today I will share a few rambling thoughts floating around in my head.

I changed the profile picture here on the Blog. It hit me today that I often talk about Barb and many of you don’t know what my bride of almost 43 years looks like, so there you go. If you could earn a place in the real nice section of Heaven by putting up with someone, she would indeed be due a mansion. She is the love of my life and has a heart as big as Texas.

I recently volunteer for the praise team that will sing for the Christmas drama this year. In years past the singers have just been seated with the audience, but I learned at the first practice last week that we will actually be on stage…in costume….including halos! Yep, the praise team will be angels! Barb and I always invite a few people to this event, but since she learned of the costumes, especially the halo, she has really been spreading the word. Kind of reminds me of the first time I preached at my home congregation many many years ago. My high school music teacher found out and came out of disbelief. I think folks will be coming just to see me with a halo, something they don’t ever expect to see again. (-: Seriously, it will be a wonderful drama. The story line this year is about a church putting on a Christmas Drama and a look behind the scenes at attitudes and how they are changed by the drama. So if you are in our area or will be, there will be two performances, December 16 and 17th both in the evening.

Our second “Tea and Jam” is coming up this Saturday evening. Here is a portion of the announcement about this week’s program from Roger Ferguson. “Entertainment will be provided by the inimitable Jonas Weathers, who will be backed by the Tea & Jam Orchestra featuring Eric Bright, Ken Irwin, Anthony and Keith Lancaster, Rick Brady, and yours truly.  Special guests include Patti Huddleston, Bill Carlisle, Kevin Dunnebacke, Mandy Wilson, Candace Woodson, The Irwin Family, and The WMCC Field Reporter!  We'll also have some sing-alongs!" We are blessed with a lot of talent in the Madison church.

I recently made some additions to the “Sites I Believe” in section on the side bar. Terry Rush, long time minister for the Memorial Drive church in Tulsa, John Dobbs’ “Out Here Hope Remains”, are among other recent additions. Check them out, it will be worth you time.

God Bless and have a super day!
